Basic file and directory inventory utility. Writes the names and attributes of all files and directories in and under a specified directory to an Access table. Works on LAN drives as well as on local workstations. Call function fcn_common_file_inventory_02_all_directories with the name of a directory as the only argument and expect a return value of OK. Processing results are found in table tbl_common_file_inventory_03_all. SSD contains three tables and one module with two procedures. Performance is pretty good --- about 2 seconds for a 600 file/directory cluster, or up to several minutes for a multi-thousand item LAN directory. Version: Uses Access 2000 file format. Current version was compiled in Access 2002. It was originally developed in Access 97, so it should run OK if converted and re-compiled. Unsure about whether it would run in earlier versions, but no significant "new" capabilities are used, so it might work OK. Uses DAO. Download Access 2000+: uploads/33/File_Inventory.zip |
