Report_GrpPaging_XofY_WithTOC
Explanatory Notes:

The sample db demonstrates display of sub-page numbers, group-wise
(for top level group), in addition to normal page numbers for the report as a whole.

Table of Contents (TOC) showing a summary of group names with their start & end pages has been provided at the beginning of report. Same report can be opened in TOC or Non-TOC mode, as per user's choice. In Non-TOC mode, the table of contents gets bye-passed.

The zipped folder contains two versions (2K & XP). The XP version has a string of bridging dots in table of contents. This feature has been avoided in 2K version as the results achieved through TextWidth property in 2K are not found quite perfect. (On the other hand, the behavior in XP onwards is observed to be satisfactory).

For depicting sub-page numbers for each individual group, it is necessary to have two cycles of formatting, before commencement of print-preview. The first cycle populates the array, while the subsequent one assigns values to the unbound text box used for depicting sub-page numbers group wise. In order to force this behavior, it is necessary that a calculated control containing [Pages] as a part of its expression is present in the report.

Two alternative methods for storing information regarding group-wise page details are demonstrated. First method uses an array for storing the particulars, while the other does it via a dedicated table.

In the sample, group page particulars are displayed at top (just below group header content) while overall page numbers for the report as a whole, are shown at bottom. The placement of relevant text boxes can be altered suitably, if so desired.
